Does This Count As A Post?

Oh, look! It's a post saying I'm not posting! The laziness, I just can't escape from it. I just wanted to put a few words up, since it's been last Wednesday since I posted and then it was just a picture. My weekend started Thursday at noon - I loaded Maggie in the van and went to visit my parents and my sister's family. My brother actually came to visit too, so that was nice. But, I just haven't got back into the swing of things, blogfully speaking. So, today I'm just going to leave you with some words of wisdom - actually, a definition - from my Snickers wrapper:

Nougatocity - a heightened yet fleeting state of accomplishment that makes you realize how unbelievably unmotivated you normally are.

"Fleeting," "unmotivated," Snickers, you know me so well.

Blog Talk and Pictures

Ok, I did it. I added the the 'follower' box to my blog. The reason I haven't done it until now? I am very sensitive and seeing just 1 follower - my sister - in the little box for weeks and weeks, would have just done me in. So, how about it everyone? Want to follow me? Give my self esteem a little boost, pretty please? (Thanks Ali and Eve!)

My intention for the layout of this blog, was to have cute girly stuff in the pics to the left, and my own everyday pics on the right. I still like that, but I'm just soooo lazy about updating them. So, today I'm going to post a bunch of everyday pics . Instead of boring you with my usual Weekend Recap (I ate food, I watched movies, etc.), I will be boring you with random pictures. You're welcome.

Even though I consider myself an X Phile. I finally got around to watching the latest X Files movie over the weekend. It was like an extra long show, so I liked it. By the way, there is a lot of naked Mulder dolls on ebay. Wonder what's up with that?

My sister's house - where Mulder is forced to socialize with the likes of Scarlett O'Hara.

My old cheerleading shoes. Maggie chewed on them when she was a puppy, but I'm still not throwing them away.

Painted my nails over the weekend. OPI - Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not. I hope you can tell it's purple. I'm not great at swatching.

Billy just got finished taking the fuel tank out, while I....sit.

My youngest nephew. On cupcake # ?.

My sister and Howard, both giving Lexie kisses.

My oldest nephew. Chillin' on his new bike.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! And don't forget to follow me! I'll beg if I have to!

Beer Bread

It's Food Friday!

Hmmm, what should I do with that one lonely can of beer in the fridge? Make beer bread, of course! I can't even tell you how impressed I am with myself whenever I make this. I always think of bread making as difficult - kneading, pounding down with fists, covered in a corner to rise. This is the easiest bread recipe ever, and I love it.

3 cups self rising flour
3 tbs sugar
1 12 oz can of beer (I think the light taste better)

Mix all ingredients together. Pour into a greased loaf pan (or you could use a casserole dish, and I just used some cooking spray). Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Pour melted butter over the top. I melted a stick of butter but didn't use all of it (I did use it after the bread was done, though, on the slices). Bake until golden brown - about 10 or 15 minutes.

Enjoy!

A Short Weekend Recap With Birthday Pics

I think I'll fill this post up with pictures because I did absolutely nothing interesting this weekend. Friday, we grabbed a pizza after work and just flipped channels on the tv. Saturday, Billy picked up Krispy Kreme and then I basically followed him around while he did car stuff. I planned on going on a date, but we ate leftover pizza really late and weren't hungry, so there went that idea. We ended up doing grocery shopping at 9 that night. I was a little irritated that the rest of the city was doing the same. I may not have a life, but doesn't anyone else? Go do something, instead of making all the lines long at Walmart! We watched Flash of Genius that night (Greg Kinnear invented intermittent windshield wipers and sued Ford).

Sunday, we had Dixie Cafe for dinner. I always have to ask what the vegetable of the day is, because if it is sweet potato casserole then I know what I'm having for dessert. I smear butter on top and sprinkle with sugar, and when the top half is gone, repeat. Yum. After Desperate Housewives, we watched The Happening. I wanted to like it since my boyfriend Marky Mark is in it, but it wasn't really happening for me. Ha, ha! See what I did there?! You know, I've had to learn to be ok with Billy falling asleep during movies. At first it was annoying, and now instead of asking him if he's ready to watch a movie, I just ask him if he's ready to go to sleep.

So it was the usual weekend - stuff myself full of food and watch movies. Hope everyone else's weekend was a little more exciting!

Apple Pie Filling

It's Food Friday!

I don't like apple pie, but I like apple pie filling. I know it doesn't even make sense, and I have no explanation for it at all. And the fact that I like cheddar cheese on it? I surprise myself sometimes.

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1 inch chunks
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbs flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 tbs water

Place apple chunks in a medium saucepan. Mix together sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples and mix well. Stir over medium high heat until apples begin to release juice. Reduce heat, add vanilla and water, and heat until apples are soft.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
