I've cut off my nails and I've stopped polishing them for Lent. This may not seem so difficult, but for me it is. Especially since I got a new polish while on vacation and I haven't tried it yet. My sister is visiting today, maybe I will force her to polish her nails with it.

And so, for my nail post this week, this is an old pic of OPI Louvre Me Louvre Me Not.

When Allison posted funnel cakes on her blog, I commented that it looked so easy that maybe I will give it a try. Well, it took me a year, but I finally gave it a try! And they were easy, and so good that I'm sure I will be making these again soon.

Meet Sheldon. He's a 9 week old springer spaniel mix. He looks a little forlorn in the above pic, but that was his first day home. He's definitely livened up a bit since then...

Look at those spots! He even has spots on the roof of his mouth and along his lips. He kind of reminds me of one of these when he opens his mouth (I didn't want to post that picture of the eel because it eeks me out a little).

These are my brother's dogs - Colton and Fez. I tried to put a sparkly headband on one of them for a pic, but he was having none of that foolishness. I have dogs on the brain today. Seriously. Billy and I were just talking about visiting some shelters when he gets off work. I'm kind of nervous! Or is this excitement? I don't know what I'm feeling!

More baking over the weekend! Sunday was a brownie mix. Yes, I consider that baking. Billy, his mom, and I had just eaten at KFC for lunch and we ran into the Dollar Tree for a couple things. I grabbed the brownies for dessert and we ate them while we watched Biggest Loser on dvr. Ha!

Saturday was a recipe I found on Pinterest. Mini pineapple upside down cakes. Mine were a little too brown and not very pretty, but Billy said they tasted really good.

These are all the shells I picked up on the beach while I was in Florida. I'm sure there's a million ideas on how to be crafty with them, but I just decided to keep it simple and easy and put them in one of my leftover wedding centerpiece vases. I like how there's a lot of space to add more shells whenever we visit again.

I decided not to add the sand to the vase, so what do I do with it? I can't throw it away, can I?! It's in my Halloween bucket, so I've got until October to decide.

    Look what I've been reading!

My sister and I got the first 2 Hunger Games books for our mom - the first one for Christmas, the second for her birthday in January. Sure, we were being a little selfish since we really wanted to read them, too. But she has read all the Harry Potter books and the Twilight books, so we knew she would like these too.

I love them! Am I supposed to wait til Mother's Day to get her the 3rd book?!

Speaking of books, it was time for another library visit.

Happy Accidents. A memoir by Jane Lynch.

Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie.

Bag of Bones by Steven King. I think this was on tv a while back. I'm wishing I had dvr'd then.

    Happy reading!
