It's Not Just Me, Is It?

Cascia tagged me just in time, because I don't have a single thing to write about for Food Friday. So, today, you will be learning a few "weird" things about me, instead of what all I like to eat (uh...everything).

1. Ok, this is food related. Whenever I share a footlong sub, I have a specific half that I eat.

2. I can never remember if I locked my car doors. Also, I always think I left the stove on or my little heater on. I have to say out loud - "stove is off, heater is off" before I leave the house.

3. When I play solitaire on the computer or phone, I think it already knows if it will let me win.

4. I tear off the first little bit of toilet paper in a public restroom. Even papering the seat, I don't want to sit on it.

5. Remember the band 311? Whenever the clock reads 3:11, in my mind I'm yelling "311 boyyyyy!"

6. I dream every night.

I'm not too weird, right?! Thanks for the tag, Cascia!

But, since it is Food Friday, I will put up this picture of the lollipops I got my nephews for Valentine's Day. Mainly, because I want to show you how many calories, sugars, and carbs it has.

If I'm going to do that amount of damage, I think I'd rather have a few snickers bars.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend Recap and Some Stuff I Like

1. I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night, my sister and her family were passing through town, so I met them at IHOP. I love every chance that I get to see my nephews. I watched 2 hours of Lost while I gave myself a mani/pedi. Saturday was nice. Slept late, ate chinese food, Billy bought another car, watched a movie and ate junk food. I took pictures of the car, but I haven't put them in the computer yet. It's a 1977 Chevelle Malibu. One owner, 64000 miles, white, 4 door. He's really buying the motor for the Z car, but his friends think that he should keep this one since it looks nice and runs really good. He's pretty much got the body sold already. The movies I watched this weekend - Zach and Miri Make a Porno, and The Women. Liked them both. Love Meg Ryan's hair. I've never had blond hair, but I would love it if mine could look like hers.

2. I am loving my Seche Vite topcoat. If you don't have this, you absolutely need to buy it.

3. I also like spray gel. Right now I'm using Herbal Essence. I feel like they were thinking of me when they added the tag line at the bottom - I Know How Much You Like Control.

4. I really like this crossbody bag by Juicy Couture - The American Canvas ($78). I just think it would be a bit hypocritical if I wore it, since sometimes I'm not very peaceful. It's cute, though.I don't know if I can pick the best part of my weekend. Everything really was the best. How was your weekend. What was the best part?

Angie's Chili

It's Food Friday!

I stole this recipe from my sister, but since I changed a few things I'm calling it Angie's Chili now. The biggest difference is that I don't add the ground beef. My boyfriend once told me that I might as well be a vegetarian. I usually don't eat meat Monday through Friday, since I don't like dealing with it raw. But, on the weekends, I will gladly sit and be served burgers, tacos, and boneless chicken wings. Just as long as I don't have to fix it, I'm fine.

So take this chili recipe and add, delete, make it your own!

1 medium onion, chopped
1 tbs chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 oz) white kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can of water

Spray a big pot with cooking spray and saute onions on medium heat. Add everything else and once it starts boiling, turn down heat and simmer for 10 minutes or so. Easy!

Weekend Recap

It's almost 1:00 in the morning as I'm typing this. I've always liked being up at night. I know I'm going to regret it, though, when I have to get up at 6. I haven't even washed my makeup off yet and it doesn't seem like so long ago when I put a fresh face on, so it will take a little more work to scrub it all off. Especially that Beauty Tubes mascara. Not sure that I will get that again. But, the reason I put a fresh face on, is that me and Billy went to Applebee's tonight. Kind of a day late Valentine's dinner. Then we stopped by Target for some junk food - TimTams and Ding Dongs, and watched The Rocker on dvd. The movie made me laugh, so I liked it.

I went to my hometown this past weekend. There's a bunch of reasons I like visiting my parent's house, but do you want to know a weird reason? My mom buys juice. I don't. This is the only time I drink it and I find myself sneaking into the kitchen at night and drinking every kind there is. This time there was pina colada and grape. Told you it was weird.

I had a great time seeing my nephews. I bought some construction paper so we had fun making valentines.

I'm very proud of my snowmen drawing on that blue sheet of paper. Too bad you can't see it better. I totally should have taken a picture of that.

This one doesn't like the 'Tootsie' part of the Tootsie Pop. The suckers are starting to build up.

I liked my flowers. I thought this would be our project, but the boys totally weren't interested. They just liked cutting out hearts.

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! And for those of you non-believers with black hearts (ha ha!), hope you had a great weekend!

And since I admitted my weird 'I-only-drink-juice-at-my-parents-house' thing, anybody else have a weird thing like that? Please, tell me I'm not the only one!

Lemon Pies

It's Food Friday!

A couple weeks ago, I made a lemon meringue pie and lemon icebox pie for my boyfriend's birthday. I actually didn't eat either one, although I made myself sick eating the leftover icebox pie filling. The pictures didn't turn out so great, and I didn't even get to take one of the lemon icebox. I thought he would wait on me before he started in on it. I tried to make the last weirdly shaped piece into a triangle, and smooth out the fork marks to get a halfway decent picture. I think that the lemon icebox was probably the best one, and not so involved as the meringue. I'm all about easy desserts.

Lemon Icebox Pie

12 oz Cool Whip
1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
1 (6 oz) frozen lemonade (thawed)
Graham cracker crust

Mix the first 3 ingredients and pour into crust. Refrigerate overnight.

I eyeballed 12 oz of Cool Whip. Next time I'll get the 8 oz container. That way I won't have pie filling left over. I seriously ate so much of that, I didn't even want any of the actual pie! But, it's really good, and very easy. I'd definitely make it again.

Random Weekend Stuff

1. Finally got around to watching The Office from Super Bowl Sunday. I don't know why this stands out, but I thought it was hilarious when Creed asked what a text was. It was nice sitting down at the computer, going to Hulu.com (suck it, ABC), putting my feet up, opening the package of Reese's Valentine Hearts, relaxing, and watching one of my favorite shows. I'm not even going to start talking about how I can't get Lost to play (again, ABC, I really don't like you).

2. Signed up for Netflix again. It's been maybe 3 years since I canceled. I had it charged to a credit card and things were getting out of control. But, I paid my last car payment in December, and I will be debt free in probably 6 months. Exciting! And speaking of The Office, The Rocker with Rainn Wilson (Dwight) is first on my Netflix list.

3. Last Thursday, my brother came into town and brought a bunch of goodies! Stuff I kept - purple fuzzy socks, Spanx, a couple bracelets, and a Marc Jacobs keychain. My sister and mom got the rest - there was a lot! He also gave me a very pretty pashmina scarf he picked up in Egypt ( I said that very casual-like). And...he delivered my Holy Grail handbag - the Bleecker patent leather tote by Coach! Oh, Internet, I know you don't judge me, but I'll go ahead and mention that I used my Christmas money to get it and it was on clearance.

4. My sister and her husband came to visit Friday. She was wanting to do a little shopping with her Christmas money too. We had a great time. Krispy Kreme was involved.

5. Billy bought a car. It's a 1977 Datsun 280Z (I think). I'm pretty excited for him because I know he likes these cars - this will be the third one. It's going to take some work, but hopefully it will be a keeper. I think he's going to paint it white instead of yellow with black flames!

Try and see it's inner beauty. That reminds me, I haven't seen the inside. I hope it has floorboards.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Quick Question - Since I got Spanx, does this mean I can eat as many Reese's Valentine Hearts as I want?

Fruit Dip

It's Food Friday!

This fruit dip was my contribution to the Super Bowl Party. I figured we needed something healthy to offset the boneless chicken wings, smothered fries, taquitos, and cheese dip. Ok, ok, I know the fruit dip is just cream cheese and marshmallow creme, not exactly the healthiest thing in the world, but it is FRUIT dip! There's apples and strawberries involved too! That's got to count for something!

8 oz block of cream cheese
7 oz jar marshmallow creme

Mix with an electric mixer. Done!

I guess you could use any fruit you wanted, and if you wanted to make a not so healthy version (ha!), you could use pound cake and cookies.

Enjoy!

Weekend Recap

Is everyone recovering from Super Bowl parties? I'm pretty sure I ate the entire time I was at my sister's house. We had a bunch of appetizers set out on the bar and every couple of hours something new was made, so I didn't bother trying to get a nice picture of the whole thing. We had boneless chicken wings, smothered fries, taquitos, spinach cheese dip, french onion dip, fruit dip with apples and strawberries, and a delicious chocolate trifle. I did get a pic of the fruit dip and I'll post that soon, maybe for Food Friday. I should be able to not eat anything else this week and still feel full. I guess I watched the game a little, but I was mostly playing with the boys. Look what I brought them -

It's a gigantic refrigerator box! And now it's in my sister's living room! They had a nice little set up going on in there - eating ramen noodles while watching movies on a portable dvd player.

This past Saturday was Billy's 39th birthday. I made a couple of lemon pies that really didn't photograph well at all. He was wanting a really good burger for his birthday dinner, so we went to The Hop, a dairy bar kind of place. Nothing beats a dairy bar burger. And you can get gigantic milkshakes and malts there.

Anyone else lucky enough to have a dairy bar near you? What's your favorite burger place?
