Snow pics!  We didn't have power, so I didn't venture out to play in the snow knowing that I couldn't warm up afterwards.  But Sheldon did...

He loved it!

We had some limbs come down.  Nothing serious, although a couple of them sounded scary.  There's a little bit of damage to the front porch railing, but thankfully that was it.  All these tall trees around the house scare me!

Today is my 2 year wedding anniversary!  The above pic is my favorite, so I decided to change the color a bit, make it an 8x10, and frame it.  A few weeks ago, I found the perfect frame at Michael's on sale for $20.  Yes, it took 2 years for me to finally hang up a wedding picture!  I love the way it looks in my hallway.

More book talk, today.  Over the weekend, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought these books for just $2 each.  They look great in the yellow room (aka future kids room).  I'm kicking myself for not buying the kids books that Target had in their dollar bins.  Maybe they'll sell them again someday.  I also added my Little House on the Prairie books to the shelf.

I had to bring these from my parents house where I was storing them.  I went ahead and brought back all of my books.

That's it?  It's going to take me forever to build up a collection to fill an entire wall of shelves!  I can't help drooling over all the bookshelf pics I'm seeing on Pinterest.  Here's one of my favorites...

I'm loving spring! I just planted some basil, there are little peaches on the peach tree, my one rose in the backyard is about to bloom, the grapevine is growing, the apple blossoms smell lovely, planted more dianthus, the hostas are coming up, the irises and azaleas are blooming, so is the dogwood and verbena and purple clover and clematis, and the fig tree is producing.

I needed something tall next to the tv. The little bit of 'grass' that I had bought wasn't quite enough, so I went outside for branches to fill it up a little more.

I looooooooooovvvvee my wedding book. I've had it just laying on the end table, but I finally got a stand for it. And that box?

It hides candles!

I've seen a few of these magnetic boards on Pinterest used mostly for storage and organization, but I made one specifically for actual magnets. I wanted this to be a cheap project, that's why the $3 frame looks exactly like a $3 frame. I may need to upgrade, especially if this stays in the hallway. I also may need to upgrade if I ever decide to visit any more states! Seventeen down...33 to go!

These are all the rosebushes I got with some of my birthday money. I can't wait until they start blooming! Hopefully, they will bloom. I know nothing about them - how to plant them, how to take care of them, I didn't even really know what I was picking out, I just went for different colors. I decided to plant them all on the east (ish) side of the house. It's not a place that I will get to admire them growing, my plan is to cut all the blooms to put in a vase inside the house.

A crazy bird thing happened today. About 11:30 this morning, I noticed a zillion birds at the birdbath. Turns out they were cedar waxwings. They were scared off by something, so I went and filled up the birdbath until it overflowed. About 2 hours later, it was completely empty!

These are all the shells I picked up on the beach while I was in Florida. I'm sure there's a million ideas on how to be crafty with them, but I just decided to keep it simple and easy and put them in one of my leftover wedding centerpiece vases. I like how there's a lot of space to add more shells whenever we visit again.

I decided not to add the sand to the vase, so what do I do with it? I can't throw it away, can I?! It's in my Halloween bucket, so I've got until October to decide.

The birds and I are not happy that Billy pruned the crepe myrtle. They've been hanging out in the pile of brush in the background.

Two blue jays at the bird bath. And, yes, that's my halloween pumpkin still hanging around. Also hanging around is my pot of dianthus. I planted them last April! I need to plant some in the front garden this spring since don't really have to do much to take care of them.




My dad helped us cut this dead pine tree down last week.


There was a casualty - a scraggly peach tree.

I want to do something with this area. I'm not sure what. A fire pit? A picnic table? My deck is also blah, I didn't even feel like getting a pic of it. Looking at all these pictures makes me ready for spring. I'm ready to make my backyard pretty!
