Maggie's Meatballs

Maggie's birthday was in February, which is when I should have posted this, but oh well. Hard to believe my sweet little beagle mix is 14 years old. It's also hard to believe that back in October I was filling out a 'do not resuscitate' form for her. She had bloat, and her stomach twisted. I couldn't imagine not having the vet perform the surgery, though. And thank goodness for credit cards! She obviously is doing fine, although I was scared she was never going to eat again! Of course, she didn't feel like eating after all that, she just needed time to recover, but I was still freaking out a little bit. Her weight has slowly declined over the years, and it took a big drop then. I'm so glad I found this recipe for Satin Balls online. It does a great job of putting weight on her. There are recipes starting out with 5 lbs of ground beef and then freezing, but I like making just a pound at a time and rolling 8 meatballs. In the beginning, she got 2 or 3 a day, but now it's just one as a treat at dinner. She wishes she could have more - she loves her meatballs!

1 lb ground beef
1 1/3 cups of Total cereal
1 1/2 cups oats
1 egg
6 tbs wheat germ
1 pkg gelatin
2 tbs oil
2 tbs molasses
garlic powder

I'm Dreaming Of...

A shabby chic bedroom! We are closing on our first house November 29 and I'm so excited! I can't stop thinking of all the things I want to do - get rid of bedroom carpet, take down bathroom wallpaper, paint the kitchen cabinets and get new countertops. That's not too much, right? I'm going to try to remember to take before pics.

And Maggie will finally have a backyard!

(I'm experimenting with Polyvore and I don't think the pic is coming through on Google reader, but it does on my site. Oops. I have no idea how to fix that.)

Random Pics

A scene from Billy's dad's funeral. There's just something about military funerals.

My grandma died a few months ago and I wanted this platter just to have something of hers. There's dishes to match and it reminds of Wednesday night dinners from ages ago.

I buy more and more Christmas ornaments every year. I promise my tree will not be full of glittered shoes.

I love my tealight candle halloween house. It's sitting on my coffee table.

My baby was sick the other night. Apparently macadamia nuts are really bad for dogs. She's fine now and still cuter than ever, despite the mole thingy growing on her chin. She's still mad that the vet called her Nanny McPhee!

Pink Ombre Manicure

I think, technically, you're supposed to take a light color and a dark color and do some mixing. I'm a little lazy and for some reason I have a lot of pinks in my collection (surprise, surprise) so I did it the easy way.

I took the pics with my phone, so excuse the badness. My rechargeable camera batteries aren't holding a charge anymore and as I've mentioned before, I'm a little lazy so I haven't gotten around to buying any yet.

China Glaze White On White
OPI Bubble Bath (my fave)
Essie Fiji
OPI Pink-ing Of You
NYC (not only can I not find a name on it, I also can't even tell you how old this polish is!)

Don't Go Grocery Shopping. Things Happen.

Before I had my two nephews create the artwork above my fireplace, I searched online for something I might like. I'm glad I didn't find anything, but check these out -

I actually have these in my dining room and I love them! Aren't they cute?

And I have this in my bedroom.:

I don't know about you, but this has never happened to me:

Or this:

I love Madonna, but I don't think I need a 96 x 96 wall mural. Or do I?

They've Hatched!

Last month when my nephews came to visit me, we got crafty and made dinosaur eggs. Since then, they have been incubating in one of their closets. We finally got around to cracking them open when I went for a visit over the weekend. They were fun to make, but it was even more fun pulling out the little dinosaurs!

Water Marbling

I am horrible at swatching, but I really wanted to get some pictures of my first attempt at water marbling. You Tube has great tutorials so I won't go into details, but basically you drop different colors of nail polish in water to create a bullseye, use a toothpick to swirl a design, and then stick your nail in the water. Repeat 9 more times! So, yeah, it's time consuming, especially cleaning up your fingers afterwards, but I think it's worth it.

Sephora by OPI Fancy Schmancy
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Gray by Gray

I was wearing silver glitter before I decided to do this, so I can't tell if that's what is coming through or if it's the Fancy Schmancy.

Man, I really need to work on my finger poses, not to mention the camera work.
