Where did February go?!  I guess I've been busy!

February 13th.  What a day.  I look exhausted, but Katie looks ready to eat.  Someday soon I need to write down her birth story so I don't forget.  I'm not sure I have time right now, I still have to go to the bathroom, take a shower, and clean the kitchen before she wakes up again.  The short version - it seemed like everything was going wrong!  We were scheduled to be at the hospital 8 pm February 12th, but we didn't get a room until an hour later.  After an hour and a half, a nurse finally came in to start an IV.  It took her 3 times.  Ouch.  The next day, the epidural didn't work the first time, so they had to do it again.  Ouch.    After a certain point, being induced wasn't working out, so it was time for a c-section.  I guess the epidural wasn't working well enough, I wasn't numb, so they had to put me under.  I wasn't really disappointed, but Billy was since he wasn't allowed in then.  I seriously don't know how women do this more than once!

37 weeks! 

The doctor is testing me for preeclampsia, so I had to give some blood yesterday and bring home a container to collect my urine for 24 hours.  I still haven't worked out what I'm going to say tomorrow when I bring it back, 'I'm just dropping off my jug of pee.'  Or, 'Here's my urine sample' and then pull out this giant container.

I finished the last 4 books in the Harry Potter series.  I'm going to miss all the characters, especially Hedwig.  I still have Deathly Hallows Part 2 to watch on dvd sometime.  All of this makes me wish I had gone to the Harry Potter theme park when I was in Orlando last year.  Oh well, next time.  Butterbeer, pumpkin juice, chocolate frogs.....yum.

36 weeks!

My family came to visit me last weekend and my sister made me a delicious baby shower cake.  I didn't technically have a baby shower, but she brought a few things for the baby and my parent's got us the crib and dresser so they got to see everything put together, and my brother has been sending us a lot of stuff.  The next day, I went out with Billy's mom and sister and they got us a few things, including a car seat (whew, now we can at least bring her home!).  There's just a couple more things I want (extra crib sheets, and maybe some burpcloths) and I think that's it!

34 weeks!  We just painted the ceiling in the nursery today and put up a new ceiling fan.  It has made such a difference in the room.  The crib and dresser should be here sometime this week.  I need to look for a few accessories and then I can't wait to see everything together.  People ask me about cravings, and I'm not convinced this is a pregnancy craving, but I seriously can't stop drinking orange soda and orange icees. Newest symptom - crotch pain.  Yep.  No wonder I'm waddling, it hurts to walk.  And I think I've mentioned that it's exhausting to flip sides in bed.  And I have stretch marks.  Oh, well.

Snow pics!  We didn't have power, so I didn't venture out to play in the snow knowing that I couldn't warm up afterwards.  But Sheldon did...

He loved it!

We had some limbs come down.  Nothing serious, although a couple of them sounded scary.  There's a little bit of damage to the front porch railing, but thankfully that was it.  All these tall trees around the house scare me!

Look who's a big dog now!  Sheldon turned 1 on Saturday (ish).  That's also the day we got our power back on from the winter storm, so all 4 of those blankets he's laying on got washed that very night.  He didn't appreciate them disappearing one by one.  He loved his package of salmon and he also got a new toy that he hasn't completely destroyed - yet.

I thought this quote was quite fitting for the new year.  I tore it out of an Oprah magazine years and years ago, maybe 2000 or 2001.  I guess it really meant something to me.  Comforting.  Hopeful.  Thank goodness I've had more than one chance.

Since I'm keeping up with my book reading on this blog, I figured I better hurry up and post this before the new year.  I finished books 2 and 3 in the Harry Potter series and watched the movies.  My mom actually has ALL the movies on dvd, so I grabbed those over Christmas.  Now I can erase what I have on dvr and free up some space.

Happy New Year's Eve!  Billy is actually planning on staying up with me until midnight.  I'm going to guess that about 10:00 he's not going to be able to pretend to stay awake anymore and drag himself to bed.  I usually stay up reading.  Hopefully, I will notice the clock at midnight.

I hardly ever read books twice, so I surprised myself the other day by grabbing the first Harry Potter book from my piles of books and reading the entire thing in about a week.  I've got almost all the movies dvr'd and so right after I read the book, I actually watched the Sorcerer's Stone movie the very same night.  Maybe I'll go ahead and read the entire series again.

30 weeks!  Only 10 more weeks to go, which seems crazy to me.  We should have her room completed sometime next month.  I'll definitely need to post some pics.

Everything was good at my appointment yesterday.  I'll start going every 2 weeks now.  And I have a new pregnancy symptom - I'm not sleeping very well at all.  Of course, that could be Sheldon related too.  He crowds me out and won't let me have any covers.  A pillow between my knees feels better, but there's hardly any room for that.  Baby is moving like crazy and I love it!

I'm going ahead and posting my 30 week pics, even though they are not the greatest.  Billy took them and he doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable in front of the camera.  He kept telling me that I moved, I kept telling him that I was standing there forever and only moved when I saw his finger was off the button, and then he says something about the camera was still taking the picture even thought his finger came off the button.  What?!  I don't know.  I thought the heart pose would be cuter, but I'm not sure you can even tell I'm pregnant.  Maybe I'll try again.

Hmmmm.....why is the rest of my work schedule calendar empty?  Oh, that's right, I'm quitting! 5 more hours and I'm done!  I know the baby isn't due until February, but I really didn't want to work through the holidays.  When you work in retail, you can't enjoy them.  So, this will be the first time in 17 years that I will actually get to enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I'm so excited!  Ok, it feels a little weird and I'm a little scared too, but more than anything I'm excited!

These two together are something else.  Sheldon is on the left and my sister's dog, Indie, is on the right.  They love love love to play.  And they play hard.  Sheldon played too hard while visiting last Saturday, and he tore his front paw pads.  BOTH front paws. I think they only bled a minute and he limped around the next day, but they look pretty good so I think they will heal just fine.  Crazy dogs.

26 weeks!  Yesterday's appointment went fine.  Did the usual - blood pressure check (it was a little high, but lower the second time they checked it right before I left), weigh in (I'm not telling yet), peed in a cup (I can't see what I'm doing when I do this!  Haha), and listened to the baby's heartbeat (yay!). I drank the orange glucose drink (and I liked it!), so they took blood this visit.  And I got my flu shot.  I'm pretty sure I've never had one before.  New pregnancy symptom - lower back pain, I mean really lower.  Actually, I should just say it's like butt cramps.  Thankfully, Google tells me I'm not alone.

We went to my family's house last Saturday and my sister took some pics for me.  I didn't plan very well, otherwise I would have worn a different shirt and put on real shoes instead of slippers.  Although, my slippers are about the only pair of shoes that fit my big feet nowadays.

Pay no attention to the dandruff.  If I can find some earplugs, we may attempt another bath today.  No, the real issue here is his tail.  He used to have a pretty white tip of a tail.  Not anymore.  When I say he chews on everything, I really do mean everything!
